Shipping Cookies (and Twitter). . . .Works For Me Wednesday

The last thing you want to do after spending hours decorating cookies is to ship them off and have them arrive in crumbles. This is not a foolproof method, but it does (for the most part) work for me. :)

{It also helps to be nice to the UPS man....lady....person.}

I start with a document box. They are hard-sided and about 8 x 11 x 2 inches. They are not as cute as my pink bakery boxes for local deliveries, but they are much sturdier.

I line the bottom of the box with a sheet of foam (or small bubble wrap) and throw in a few business cards. :)

Add ONE layer of cookies. I can normally get 3 in each layer.

Cover with a sheet of foam and add another layer in the opposite direction.

That's all...2 layers. Top with a sheet of foam and seal.

Add a cute label and tape the front with packing tape so it doesn't bust open in transit.

Meanwhile, have your local hunky helper tape up the shipping box for you. {You can do this step yourself if you must.}

Cushion a shipping box with packing peanuts (or bubble wrap, or those air pocket thingies), add the cookies (a few boxes can be stacked) and add more peanuts.

And, don't forget...a cute label for the outer box!

And in the "Never Say Never" category, Bake at 350 is now on Twitter! I am officially a Twit...yay!

I must say, I'm a little addicted! Twitter is like a giant beauty shop with all of my best (cyber) girlfriends (and their friends) and companies I love (Starbucks! Domino Sugar! Panera! Real Simple!). I had no inclination to join until hearing about all the fun from a few bloggy friends. But, I'm drawing the line at Facebook (probably).

What is making it manageable for me is The Smart Girl's Guide to Twitter. It's an e-book that just came out in October...I joined Twitter in October...Coincidence? I think not! :)

The Smart Girl's Guide is written by Allison Worthington, the Martha of Social Media. I have learned so much and I'm not even halfway through it, yet! A link to the guide is on my sidebar.

If you're on Twitter, come by & say "hi!" You'll find me here: @bakeat350tweets. Tweet, tweet!

Busy, Busy Week of Designs

I have a busy week with designs posted in different places.  Today I am a guest designer at the FABULOUS Christmas With The Cricut site.  I love CWTC.  These ladies inspire me every single day!  And in addition to being great designers and awesomely creative, they are three of the nicest women you would EVER want to meet.

There are two other guest designer projects at CWTC also - when you go by, and you should go by CWTC, be sure to look at Teri's and Christina's holiday home decor ideas.

Papertake Weekly challenge

Happy Tuesday! It's time for a new challenge from Papertake Weekly. This week is a sketch challenge by the very talented Dawny, and this week we are being sponsored by Lily Boo's Boutique who so graciously supplied the designers with some fabulous stamps to use ! The stamps are soooo cute and worked perfectly with this sketch! I colored mine with Copic markers, and also used some Smooch and atyou spica pens. The polka dot paper is digital and the bottom green striped paper is Daisy D's. Added a pretty silk ribbon from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I used a couple different Martha Stewart border punches, and that completed this card. Please be sure and visit Papertake Weekly to see the rest of the fabulous creations from the design team, and then we'd love it if you'd join us in the fun! Thanks for stopping by to see me today and hope to see you back again soon! HUGS!

Brrrrr - Poor Little Cold Penguin

Happy Monday readers!  It is a Bitten By The Bug Monday where the featured cut is the adorable little Penguin on the Joys of the Season cartridge.  If you have not been by BBTB you have to go check out all of the fabulous penguin projects.

My penguin is shivering in the cold... He is so cold he is blue!   The penguin rests on a large snowflake, also cut from Joys of the Season.  The word Brrrr is from Winter Woodlands and I thought it was a perfect addition.

I used icicle Stickles over the word Brrrr to enhance the frosty effect.  I also used Glossy Accents on the top layer of blue skin on the penguin.  He looks smooth and sleek, ready for a quick swim.

In addition ot BBTB, I have two other projects posting today.  Be sure to click the blinkies and visit Custom Crops for a fun project to make for the guys, and click the Gypsy Spot blinkie for the premier of the new design team.

A new chilly Bitten By The Bug challenge - a cute penguin

There's change in the air, and not just the seasons! We're changing things up a little bit over at Bitten By The Bug, so be sure and visit to see what is going on! This week, we received an awesome challenge from Carla! She asked us to use this adorable little penguin from the Joys of the Season cartridge. I saw this paper from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses line, and knew I would have to make a pink penguin! What do you think? The card base is cut from Bazzil cardstock and the PP is Basic Grey. The ribbons are Offray and the snowflakes and "let it snow" cut are both from the Winter Woodland cartridge. I used a couple dew drops for her eyes and shaded her tummy with copic markers. Added some machine stitching and one more Christmas card is done! YAY!
So be sure and visit Bitten By The Bug to check everything out and see all the wonderful projects the designers have come up with this week. I've been able to take a peek, and you will NOT be disappointed! Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see your tomorrow for the Papertake Weekly challenge! HUGS!
